Adriatic Nautical Academy - Academia Navalis Adriatica, the school of sailing and nautical skills, was established in 1988.
It was the celebrated Italian skipper Cino Ricci who worked out the school's programme and teaching method. He also chose and trained the first instructors and decided to establish the school base in a small fishing village Jezera on Murter Island. Although Cino is a great gourmand when it comes to fish dishes, the main reason for that particular choice of location was the duration and regularity of the typical summer north-west wind and the beauty of waters in that region. There are many small islands and rocks which makes the learning even more interesting and demanding. The programme is designed to meet the needs of complete beginners who learn and practice the basics of so-called recreational sailing.
However, the programme offers other levels of learning and the most advanced are skipper course and Malta. During the past 20 years the programme has not been significantly modified and the best proof of its quality is the membership in ISSA which assembles some of the most prestigious sailing schools in the world, like the Italian school Caprera and the French school Glenans. More than 9000 students have finished our courses since the establishment of the school.
