THE START SAILING COURSE
Min. experience: None
Assumed knowledge: None
Course content: Steering a yacht, sail handling, rope work and safety onboard.
Ability after course: Basic knowledge of yachting. Reduce the time needed to complete the Competent crew course.
Min. duration: 2 days
The two day course provides a short introduction to sail cruising for novices.
THE COMPETENT CREW COURSE
Min. experience: None
Assumed knowledge: None
Course content: Basic seamanship and helmsmanship.
Ability after course: By the end of the course you should be able to steer, handle sails, keep a lookout, row a dinghy and assist in all the day – to – day routines on board
Min. duration: 5 days
This course is for the beginners and those who would like to become active crew
members rather than just passengers.
THE DAY SKIPPER COURSE
Min. experience: 5 days sea time, 100 miles under sail and 4 hours of night time sailing.
Assumed knowledge: Basic navigation and helmsmanship. It is recommended that you attend the Day skipper shorebased course before taking the practical course.
Course content: Pilotage, boat handling, seamanship and navigation.
Ability after course: Can skipper a yacht in familiar waters by day.
Min. duration: 5 days
The five – day course gives you the chance to take charge on short passages under
instruction. You will concentrate on pilotage, boat handling, seamanship and
navigation. The course can be taken in tidal or non-tidal waters and your certificate
will be endorsed accordingly.
THE COASTAL SKIPPER COURSE
Min. experience: 15 days sea time with 2 days as skipper, 300 miles under sail and 8 hours night sailing.
Assumed knowledge: Navigation to Coastal skipper shorebased standard. Sailing to Day skipper practical standard.
Course content: Skippering techniques for coastal and offshore passages.
Ability after course: Can skipper a yacht on coastal passages by day and night.
Min. duration: 5 days
The more advanced Coastal skipper course is for competent helmsmen who want to
expand their cruising range offshore and into unfamiliar waters.
In addition we offer for all above courses: - Own Boat tuition for all courses and Classic / Long keel boats. - Yachtmaster Preparation / practical
Terms od cancellation:
Cancellation by student: In the event that student wishes to cancell a booking provided that 30 days written notice is received prior to the start of the course start date a full refund will be given of all monies paid. In the event of withdrawal between 30 and 20 days before the beginning of the course start date, A.N.A is holding the right on 50% of the paid amount. In the event of cancellation less than 20 days notice prior to the course start date every attemt will be made to resell the booking but in event that booking is unsold the full amount will be forfeited.
Cancellation by ANA: In the event that ANA sailing school has to cancel your booked course due to unforseen circumstances we will give you as much notice as possible both verbally and in writting. A full refund will be made to you of any course monies paid to ANA sailing school by you.
